So, votes were in today for our Art Movements assignment. We had ten points to give out to each photo. I personally can't really give out points just to give them out. I like to be fair, so I made my own little categories to distribute the points:
- 2 points - composition
- 2 points - sharpness / blurring
- 2 points - color / light
- 4 points - idea (meaning if I personally liked the idea behind the photo)
Now, the funny part about this is I used this to score my own photos. Honestly, though, I went ahead and gave a 10 to my surreal photo. HAD TO. Like I said before...it's very dear to me. I tried to be unbiased but just couldn't. I don't remember if it was Poe or which writer I read about once that said whatever he'd write he'd put away for a while once he finished. He would look at it again later on to see if he still liked it or if he needed to make some edits. I read this years ago and it stuck with me. "Baking" I call it. I do it for my fashion designing, sewing, jewelry making, writing...everything. So, after my photos "baked" at school after I turned them in, I realized I didn't feel the same about them as I did in the beginning (except for the surreal one...can't help it). Next time I'll have to "bake" before handing them in. Anyways, overall these were the scores my photos received at the end of class:
- Abstract ---> 81
- Impressionist ---> 77
- Abstract Impressionist ---> 93
- Realism ---> 82
- Surrealism ---> 91
Not bad. They weeded out those that scored under 80 and then after the next assignment for the illumination class I think they're going to go up again. Not sure how the professor's gonna do the whole choosing for the exhibition thing. I'm pretty happy with my scores though. After all, I am a newb. ;o)
